"BYU-Hawaii: An Institution of Prophetic Destiny" - Cont'd

Where does the Polynesian Cultural Center get the students? From BYU-Hawaii. And where does the Temple Visitors Center get most of its visitors? From the PCC. What makes BYU-Hawaii the very best it can be? The Hawaii Temple. And what makes it possible for many of the students to attend BYU-Hawaii? The PCC. And heaven bless Laie and its residents for years of gracious support of each of these entities.

14. And last, we celebrate as one of our objectives, even one of our themes at BYUH, "harmony admidst diversity." We are recogized by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges as an example of ethnic diversity and cultural realtionships. At a time when campuses across the United States are being torn apart by racial strife and wars are being fought over ethnicity, BYU-Hawaii stands as a beacon light of "harmony admidst diversity."

Finally, I hope you have sensed from the information I have given you that this is not an ordinary commonplace university. Our status as an institution of higher education will be determined by much more than a survey appearing in the U.S. News and World Report. Our success is assessed by the Lord's measuring stick as evaluated regulary by His prophets, and as we continue to take our guidance from the Lord and His servants, this university will fulfill its destiny not just in Laie, not just in Hawaii or across the Pacific -- but around the world."
